Marty Aversa resumed the position of Management Officer at the U.S. Permanent Mission to International Organizations in Vienna in July 2011 after a six month assignment as Deputy Management Officer to the U.S. Regional Reconstruction Team in Erbil, Iraq.  In 2007-2010, he served as General Services Officer in Sofia, Bulgaria, during which time he took a temporary one year assignment as Governance Section Head at the U.S. Provincial Reconstruction Team in Kirkuk, Iraq.  His other assignments since entering the Foreign Service in 1999 have been as Watch Officer at the Nuclear Risk Reduction Center in Washington, D.C., Assistant Human Resources Officer in Mexico City, Mexico, and Visa Officer in Vancouver, Canada.

Mr. Aversa earned a B.A. in International Affairs from Colgate University and an J.D. from George Washington University.  He speaks Russian, Bulgarian and Spanish.  His wife Yulia and he have one daughter.
