Delivered by Ambassador Joseph E. Macmanus

Vienna International Centre, Vienna, Austria, November 28, 2013

I have the honour to make this statement on behalf of China, France, Germany, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

We welcome the Director General’s introductory statement and his report (GOV/2013/56) entitled “Implementation of the NPT safeguards agreement and relevant provisions of the United Nations Security Council resolutions in the Islamic Republic of Iran” and welcome the agreement on the Joint Statement on a Framework for Cooperation between the IAEA and Iran.

We welcome the agreement on a Joint Plan of Action reached on 24 November in Geneva, which has been formally communicated to the Director General by the EU High Representative and circulated by the Secretariat to all member states on 27 November.

We recognize that the IAEA will play an essential role in verifying the implementation of the nuclear related measures, and stand ready to support fully this effort.

We look forward to timely reporting from the Director General on the implementation of all nuclear related obligations and commitments by Iran.
